Weekend at The Westin Sohna

7th July 2017

What do you do if you desperately need a vacation and do not have more than two nights to spare? You book a STAYCATION! With peacocks as my morning alarm and a vast expanse of lush greenery, this was an unbelievable experience.

Westin Sohna has 97 Guest Rooms and Villas spread across 37 acres of lush green lands which means there are a lot more greens and fewer humans for the ultimate respite for a cityslicker. We spent from Delhi and stayed here for two nights, not once did we get out of the property for it really is a blissful world in itself with lots of little activity and ample amount of tranquillity.

ROOMS

There are Premier Rooms, Premier Villas, Presidential Villas and Luxury Villas to choose from.  The rooms were my best part at Westin Sohna; we had a lovely premier villas for ourselves. The super comfortable four poster bed and some nice lounge spaces were perfect, to top it all up to the spacious bathroom with a big round tub to plop your lazy self onto! The little details are what make a huge difference; the tub has a glass roof, so there’s some lovely sunshine for the day and a little star gazing for relaxing hot baths at night didn’t I say dreamy before?

All Rooms come with TV, WIFI, Coffee-Tea Maker there are varied amenities depending upon the room you go for.
We had a little verandah for ourselves and the folks here fixed a lovely hammock for us too. There was privacy and our only peeping toms were the beautiful peacocks.

ACTIVITIES

You won’t have a dull moment in here, there is a lot to do here, and there’s something for everyone. For the adrenaline junkies, there are activities like Go-Karting, Paragliding. If you’re a fitness freak, they have two huge pools, a beautiful gym that I made ample use of, beautiful trails for jogging.

If you don’t want to be bothered with a lot of activities, resort to some spa time at the Heavenly Spa, and if you don’t even want to leave your room, there’s an in-room spa too.The little zoo here is an absolute delight; you could feed the chicken and click pictures with some emus. The options are endless here.

FOOD

With all that’s happening here, the food hasn’t been sidelined. They have three restaurants – the Living Room is the main where most the action happens and then an Indian restaurant called Chaupaal and Xiao Chi a Chinese restaurant. There is Splash a poolside bar and a relaxed lounge bar with some books and comfy couches.

There is a buffet for breakfast, lunch and Dinner and ample options for ordering a la carte. The breakfasts and Dinners are quite grand, and the bustling breakfast is where is feasted like a queen. The special outdoor grill on Saturday evenings is excellent, relaxed outdoor meals while gazing at the stars- perfection. The best part about my meals here was that Chef Adesh the head chef and team at Living Room were always happy to customise our meals and even make something off the menu if needed, you name it, and they’ll have it for you. Health freaks have a reason to rejoice because there’s a special spa menu catered towards healthy eaters.

Would I go here again? Absolutely ! The service is brilliant, and property is well maintained and within an easy drive from Delhi. It is so close to the city and yet feels so disconnected and close to nature, and that is a total winner for me. I would love to see how it fares in the winter when I could do more outdoor grills and extended hot tub scenes watching the stars.

Cityslicker’s Tips

  1. Carry comfortable shoes and make use of the excellent walkways here
  2. Carry a torch, after evenings they don’t have a lot of lights around so navigating after dinner gets slightly tricky
  3. If you are travelling with kids request the room near the zoo area where there’s a large playground too
  4. Make Spa appointments in advance as they get booked soon on the weekends
  5. Keep an eye for the offers on the website for discounted room rates
