Cityslicker tries new cuisines and this time it’s Suzette Creperie and Cafe. Gourmet visited their branch in Nariman Point. Their other branch is located at Bandra, Pali Naka. This one can be a little hard to find for those not familiar with the area, but since our Gourmet knows Nariman point well she had no difficulty navigating her way to Suzette.

Suzette has all the ingredients of a warm amiable café – Minimally furnished with wooden chairs, benches against the wall with a cushion, about 3-4 bar stools overlooking the kitchen area where you see the crepes being made topped with a bookshelf with some magazines.

It is the sort of the place all the health conscious people will love. They also claim that they carefully wash their salads with drinking water.

All their crepes are made of the finest organic flours. Suzette serves crepes for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert. The menu has been compiled by three lovely French expats, who studied cooking in Brittany, which is known as the world capital of crepes.

A look at the how the dishes fared

Crepe Suzette – A creation with orange caramel flavoured  with orange blossom water. High recommended.

Roquette Crepe – It is basically a buckwheat crepe with Grilled Chicken, Feta Cheese, Roquette, Fresh and Sundried Tomatoes and Fresh Basil. Health wise this totally wins but the Gourmet is not a big of the buckwheat which is slightly bitter. If you don’t mind the bitterness of the buckwheat, this is nice and filling.

Detox salad – Perfect for the health conscious! It includes Kale, Apple, Shredded Carrots, Cucumber, Pomegranates, Toasted Almonds, Sesame Seeds, Flax Seeds and a dressing of Sesame Oil with Ginger and Lime. Our Gourmet totally digs this. It is her absolute favorite. It’s a perfect lunch if you have indulged the previous night and wish to pipe down a little the next day.

Basilica salad – A mix of Lettuce, Grilled Chicken, Feta Cheese, Roquette, Fresh and Sundried Tomatoes, Fresh Basil and French Vinaigrette. All the ingredients complement one another perfectly.

Apple, Carrot and Ginger juice – The combination of sweet apples with the zesty ginger and carrot works nice. It is quite a healthy concoction.

Croque Pesto – It has Fresh Tomatoes, Mozzarella, Pine Nuts, Basil Pesto and Zucchinis. Good portion size and filling. However you might want to sprinkle some salt on it.

Classic Crepe – Melted Belgian Chocolate in a crepe! Already drooling? These crepes define the word perfection and the quality of chocolate used is good, smooth and dark. We shamelessly asked for an extra spoonful of chocolate sauce to dip the crepe in.

Chocolate Mousse – Served in a cutting chai cup, it is creamy and perfectly dense. This is a chocolate lovers delight. The portion size is tad too less for the price.

The Espresso served here is really strong. Those who love it mild, stay away!

The Smoozies and the Kale Juice were sadly unavailable

Gourmet’s Final Verdict – The service is swift and they tweak the dishes according to your liking. The prices are moderate-high but the quality of the ingredients justifies it. The only minus point for  Suzette is the location and there is no valet parking. Moreover finding a parking spot in the locality is a herculean task.

Will we gobble here again? – Yes, for the healthy fixes.
