Quench

The quench to try out new places led the Gourmand and the Gourmet to ‘Quench’ located at Bandra West. In the same lane as Candies and I-Bar, Quench is always buzzing with young crowd looking to decompress over a few drinks and some conversations. Going on a Saturday afternoon resulted in quite a long waiting time (around 25 minutes to be precise). The staff did not bother informing us whether any table was vacant. We had to keep a track there. Definitely not such a happy start.

Quench looks like a caravan from outside giving it that cool hippie vibe. We were greeted by a decently dim light ambiance, popular rock music and an array of abstract art and quotes that clothe the walls of this place. There are hands folded in “beer” prayer and 3D wine bottles on this less than 500 square feet area! Witty quotes and one liners are quite the conversation starters. The seating is a bit congested and navigation is quite a messy affair. The menu is huge!  Quench offers a lot of varieties to gobble from. A multi-cuisine menu offering – Chinese, Indian, continental They also have quite an amazing selections from Domestic and Imported Beers. Perhaps one of the few pubs who offer a plethora of wines to choose from. WARNING for the pseudo Barneys all around – They serve only beer and wine! No scotch and whiskeys. We were a little disappointed with the fact that there are no happy hours here.

For starters we ordered the Grilled Olive Chicken.  Perfectly grilled chunks of meat drenched in a green sauce. We got so involved into gobbling this that ‘clicking a picture before eating’ protocol was refuted. Opting for a Chinese dish, we ordered the humble Triple Schezwan rice. Nothing special about this. How would we down a mug of beer without hogging onto a pizza? Texan Pizza is avoidable though. Hard crust and layer of cheese with too much oil and really no flavor is not quite the pizza we hoped for. One notable factor is the portions are quite good for the food offered. The pricing of the pitchers/towers is a little steep being 699 and 1400 respectively. Taxes are a bitch! So they are added later burning that pocket even more. Speaking of the service, it is quite prompt and beer mugs were always refilled with a smile.

They play great music right from Pearl Jam to Metallica. If you are in search for a place to catch up with a few buds over some great music and a wonderful ambiance, Quench is your destination.

Gourmet’s final verdict – This is the place i would want to go when I don’t want to dress up yet guzzle on some beer with my buddies!

Gourmand’s final verdict – Guzzling beer with Metallica playing in the backdrop? ‘Nothing else matters’ in that case. Thumbs up!

Will we gobble here again? –  Yes definitely.
